In an article last week about the fire department budget, Fire Chief Kevin Foster was quoted saying he knew of cases where no volunteer firefighters had shown up in response to an alarm.

Some readers may have inferred he was speaking about Midland. His refer-e nce was to situations that have occurred in other areas of the province, not Midland which has a dedicated group of volunteer and professional firefighters.
