More awards earned over weekend 0
The Midland Free Press picked up a second and two third place awards at the Ontario Community Newspaper Awards ceremony held in Toronto over the weekend.
Last month the Free Press also won a first in the national newspaper competition for best special section.
That same special section, History of Humanity in Huronia through 100 Objects, placed second in the provincial awards over the weekend.
The Free Press placed third for best Front Page in the over 10,000 circulation category, behind the Newmarket Era Banner's first and the Oakville Today's second. The Free Press's other provincial third was for best In-house Promotion where it came behind the Elora-Fergus News Express and the Oshawa This Week.
Excellence in design and writing and photography made for the top three placement in the Front page award. Research, writing and execution earned second for the special section and the in house promotion was noted for it's dramatic design and utility.
