A personal shopper for your colour scheme 0
Burford, ON -Beauti-Tone, Canada's Paint Experts, and Style at Home magazine have once again teamed up, this time to create the new Style at Home Country Colour Collection, 50 fresh shades that take the guesswork out of finding the perfect look.
"One of the most common dilemmas our customers' face is choosing a colour palette for their home that they love and that is easy to live in," says Bev Bell, Creative Director, Beauti- Tone Paint and Home Products Division, Home Hardware Stores Limited. "With thousands of colours to choose from, the decision can be overwhelming." The Style at Home Country Collection aims to drastically simplify that choice. "It's a bit like having a personal shopper sort through the myriad of colours and present you with the best of the best," adds Bell.
Each of the nine palettes includes four neutrals and two accent colours, all personally selected favourites of Style at Home editor-in-chief Erin McLaughlin. Understanding that colour plays a large part in living with comfort and casual ease, McLaughlin chose each of these shades using two simple criteria. "They are all beautiful and they will each enhance the calm and restfulness of a living space," says McLaughlin. "Even the more dynamic accent shades are soothing colours that can be used in the traditional sense, for throw cushions or lampshades, or as the wall shade itself."
Most importantly, every one of these colours are infinitely livable. "There is not a colour in this collection that would not look beautiful in a room," adds Bell.
To take the guesswork out of finding that perfect look, consider the colours of fixed assets such as furniture and carpets, then choose the Style at Home Country Colour Collection palette that you love the most and that goes best. That perfect colour selection has now been whittled from thousands of shades to a beautiful palette of just six. It's that easy!
Mugwump -Scenic Mugwump, on Georgian Bay in Ontario, represents the beauty of nature at its most wild and most refined. A palette for a cottage or a grand home -or for anyone who loves earthy colours and blue tones.
Laval -The colours of Quebec in winter. They have a subtle Victorian feel and, depending on how they're used, these shades work well as either a sophisticated palette in the city or as a casual palette in the country.
Beaudelaire -A collection of colours inspired by Erin's love for her dapple grey horse, Beaudelaire. His chameleon coat changes with the weather and light, as do these soft, grey tones and brilliant accents.
Shanagarry -A romantic appreciation for all things Irish, where the isle of Eire represents a world of creative colour and freedom of expression.
Daylight -A collection of cool neutral colours to create a space that seems bathed in natural light, even when it's not.
Candlelight -A collection of neutral colours to help create a warm, soft candlelit ambience.
Wychwood -Perfect for a child's room or for lovers of pink and green, this palette is soft and subtle.
Janou -Erin's dog Janou has the most glorious mottled fur coat, a blend of neutral shades from putty to chocolate. Janou would look right at home with these complementing colours.
St. Clements -This neutral, yet colourful, palette reflects an intensely creative mood, a backdrop for artistic endeavours like dramatically coloured antique textiles or an arrangement of pieces of modern art.
