THAT'S AMAZING! 0
Ever wanted to take part in the TV reality show The Amazing Race? The Amazing Rally is North Simcoe's next best thing and while you're racing to checkpoints around North Simcoe County and performing mental and physical tasks along the way, you're raising funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Simcoe.
Big Brothers Big Sisters President Cindy McQuirter-Fairley says, "This is the fourth year and each year we've had more and more participants. Once people take part in the event word of mouth gets around about how much fun it is." Participants must raise a minimum of $70 in pledges to sign up or you can pay the $70 registration fee yourself; get the online pledge form at www.kidsdomatter.com.Last year $7,000 was raised and organizers hope to top that this year with a goal of $12,000; the top three individual pledges win a prize.
There is only room for 60 cars and 120 participants in the Rally; more than 20 cars and 48 participants have already signed up.
The route and tasks are top secret and a nice dinner, included in the registration fee, awaits participants at the end of the day.
McQuirter-Fairly adds, "Nick Boudouris at Restaurant Saint- Marie has generously donated the dinner and Avionics Design Services is our title sponsor this year."
Winners can pick from an assortment of prizes donated by local sponsors like Midland Honda.
