Original production a great success 0
I would like to congratulate the directors and cast of "Yours Truly", an original musical production recently put on by talented staff and students at St. Theresa's Secondary School.
In a time when the majority of movies, books and often even music are covers of original works, it was truly inspiring to see what drama teacher, Lori Ann Clancy accomplished by writing and directing her own play, along with Andrew Irvine who composed the music for the production. Teacher Ria Diening, who choreographed for the play, transformed an emotional storyline through movement and guided the audience along the powerful journey of the characters.
I cannot think of a better example for students studying music, dance and drama in school than to experience their teachers creating a brand new material and having the courage to try something different and original. Even more to her credit, Lori Ann Clancy included multiple talents in the performance, including a fantastic beatbox performance, hip hop and contemporary dance, harmonica, guitar and of course, incredibly talented young singers and actors.
I am grateful to live in a community where the passion and talent of our young performers is nutured and celebrated and encourage all to continue to support our secondary school arts programs.
