Penetanguishene sports hall hosting dinner
Posted 1 year ago
The Penetanguishene Sports Hall of Fame is hosting a fundraising dinner to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Penetanguishene Memorial Arena on Nov. 14, 1958. This event is the last fundraiser for the new 2006- 2007 arena addition.
On that night in 1958, legendary Maple Leaf goalie Turk Broda came to town with his Toronto Marlies to play an exhibition game against the Barrie Flyers, and with Penetanguishene hockey legend Andy Bellehumeur, they officially cut the ribbon marking the first game.
The shrine celebrates this milestone and the latest construction that brought the building into the 21st century with this dinner. It promises to be a special night. For more information, visit
